Our History

Formerly known as Armadillos BBQ, Barry Dyngles has been serving Youngstown award winning food for over a decade. Our recipes, winning award after award, year after year, are second to none. To date, we have won over 250 culinary awards, including “Best Ribs & Sauce in America,” reaffirming our pride in bringing you the very best. Rebranded as Barry Dyngles in 2007, our owner, Shawn Hannon envisioned a bright future. Leaving Armadillos and the competition circuit behind, Shawn and Barry Dyngles focused on becoming Youngstown’s first choice for fabulous food. Since then, Barry Dyngles has truly become just that, a staple in the Youngstown palate.


The Queen of Hearts


In 2015, Barry Dyngles made headlines with the million dollar Queen of Hearts Drawing. Beginning as a simple idea, the Queen of hearts quickly became a national phenomenon. Week after week, the jackpot grew and grew, and so did the number of prospective players. Crowding together to claim their entry into the drawing each week. In it’s 48th round, over 600,000 tickets were sold, increasing the final jackpot from 1.3 million to a staggering 1.8 million. On October 4th, 2015, the Queen of Hearts was found, bringing the drawing to an end.
